December 4 Daily Entry -- Who am I to have thoughts?

I am a professor of nothing, holding no doctorate of studies in no particular field.
I have not achieved anything special, nor have I had anything out-of-the-ordinary happen to me. I have never had greatness thrust upon me.
Nor was I born special or interesting in any way. There is nothing about me that sets me apart from the mainstream.
My story is everyone's story...or at least it's one that is commonly told. Told enough to be easily understood. Told enough to be already understood to everything.
But I've read the thoughts of people from generations back. And what did they have that I didn't?
Nothing. Not a single man among them had anything inherently special.
They just had time on their hands, money to fall back on, and the desire to think about things deeply.
You don't have to read my words, but if you do, give them the same weight that you gave to our man on Waldon pond and his friend who never left the garden. (Though I shouldn't dare to touch the hem of the man of multitudes.) We have the same birthright, even if there isn't much value left to mine.)
